GCW:Now And Forever 2023

Marcus Mathers v. Brayden Toon v. Cole Radrick v. Alec Price v. Charles Mason

This was another GCW scramble but I liked this one because everyone was on point. Brayden Toon did some unbelievable stuff for a guy his size like a standing shooting star press and a Asai moonsault. Keep him coming back.

Charles Mason wins via pinfall
3/5

Matt Cardona and Steph DeLander v. Bussy

This was a fun match because of how great Matt Cardona was in this. He came out dressed in a full 1995 Undertaker get up and the finish even saw him throwing powder out of an urn into Effy's eyes. Good shit.

Matt Cardona and Steph DeLander win via pinfall
2.75/5

Gringo Loco v. Komander v. Arez

This match was great as expected. Unreal there was great lucha stuff in this.

Gringo Loco wins via pinfall
3/5

Mance Warner v. George South

While both men were entertaining this wasn't a great match but it was still fun to watch.

2/5

East West Express defends the GCW Tag Team Championships against Amazing Red and Brian XL

I wasn't too into this match. I will start with the positives. This was the week of Nick Wayne with him being 18 now and him debuting on AEW. Amazing Red looked great here too however, this match did not flow well and there were a lot of botches.

East West Express retains via pinfall
2/5

Maki Itoh v. Billie Starkz

This was a great hard-hitting match. Maki was very impressive here. She hit an Enzuigiri on Billie Starkz and then as soon as Billie fell Maki did the laying down headbut to her. Plus the cloverleaf Maki had Billie in looked painful as fuck.

Maki Itoh wins via submission
3/5

Speedball Mike Bailey v. Yoshihiko

I loved this match. They copied the Kenny Onega v. Will Ospereay match from Forbidden Door move for move and added some comedic twists to it.

Speedball Mike Bailey wins via pinfall
5/5

Los Macizos and Jimmy Lloyd v. Homicide, Matt Tremont and Grim Reefer

I enjoyed this match. Glad to see Matt Tremont healed up nice after that brutal 700 Light Tube match he had and it was cool to see Homicide still has it and pulled off his flipping tope. This was a fun brawl around the arena and this had the best botch I've ever seen in it. So Miedo Extremo was laid out across a door outside of the ring and Grim Reefer went to dive him. Before Reefer dove, he went to light a joint and threw his lighter at Miedo. That's what got the door to break! And Reefer still dived.

Homicide, Matt Tremont and Grim Reefer win via pinfall
2.75/5

Blake Christian defends the GCW Championship against Mao

Blake got some good heat before this match. He had some refs come out and tell Emil Jay that he had travel issues and wasn't going to be there and jumped Mao from Behind, that's some classic shit. That match itself was very good Blake Christian is a piece of shit but a great wrestler and Mao was amazing and glad to see him back doing his thing this summer.

Blake Christian retains via pinfall
3.5/5

Utami Hiyashishita v. LuFisto

This was a great match.  LuFisto impressed Me wrestling Death Matches lately and now she impressed me with wrestling a straight-up hard-hitting match. I loved this U.S. Run with Hiyashishita and hope she is here for another run.

Utami Hiyashishita wins via pinfall
3.75/5

CZW: Crushing The Competition 2001

 Super Crazy v. Yoshihiro Tajiri

This was just used to set up a match later on I believe so it was interrupted by Sick Nick Mondo and Ric Blade.

No Contest
1.5/5

Fast Eddie Valentine v. John Dahmer v. Jeff Rocker

This match wasn't very good. I didn't even know this was elimination style.

Jeff Rocker wins via pinfall
1.75/5

Ruckus v. Rockin Rebel

Good lord Rockin Rebel couldn't exist today. He came out waving a confederate flag, he offers Ruckus KFC and the Finish saw him throwing Bisquick in Ruckus's face. I'm grateful we have progressed to where this is no longer acceptable. Ruckus could do some cool stuff for that time as well.  The match itself was decent.

Rockin Rebel wins via pinfall
2.5/5

Amazing Red and Joel Maximo v. The Briscoes

This was a good match. Some of the high spots in this match were insane and until now hadn't seen a lot of Amazing Red but I get why he's a legend now, the stuff he was doing in 2001 is unheard of.

The Briscoes win via pinfall
2.75/5

Sick Nick Mondo v. Super Crazy v. Ric Blade

This started as a great match and the spot where Ric Blade did a Swanton over-the-top-rope, onto Super Crazy who was laying on a ladder was insane but this had to end with interference, sigh.

No Contest
2.5/5

Trent Acid v. Nick Berk

This was my first time seeing Trent Acid and this guy was an amazing wrestler, great connection with the fans, could bump like nobody's business, and had a great ring presence, I look forward to seeing more of his stuff.

Trent Acid wins via pinfall
2.75/5

Rumble for the Iron Man Championship

This was insanity in the best possible way. We had Wifebeater beat down Nate Hatred with a Barbed Wire Trash Can. The spot where Widebeater suplexed Mad Man Pondo onto the chairs outside looked painful and the finish was crazy when Wifebeater threw Lobo off of a balcony through a stack of flaming tables. I love this shit.

Lobo wins the Rumble to become CZW Iron Man Champion
3/5

Tajiri v. Justice Pain

This was a good match but I hate non finishes. This match was fast-paced and hard-hitting but the problem was this ended in interference.  Although one of those who interfered was Mikeh Whipwreck so that's cool.

No Contest
2.75/5

Throwback Thursday

Here's a new feature I'm doing.

The reason I decided to start reviewing nostalgia shows is for a couple of reasons.

The first is, to my knowledge, there are no ratings on any of the classic stuff so this is my way of honoring the past.

The other is, I'm fairly new to Death Match wrestling and have not seen a lot of the stuff I'm going to be reviewing so this is an excuse to watch a lot of the classics.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy this.

JCW: Big Ass Extreme Birthday Bash 2023

Blake Christian defends the GCW Championship against Beastman

This was a decent match. Blake begging off is always entertaining. That dive Beastman hit on the security team was sick though.

Blake Christian retains via pinfall
2.5/5

Speedball Mike Bailey v. Mao

This was an amazing match. These two men mirror each other style-wise and both kicked each other hard. There was a spot where Mao Lawn darted Speedball through a door that looked nasty. We had a fun little appearance from Yoshihiko as a referee too.

Mao wins via pinfall
4/5

Cole Radrick v. Jack Cartwheel v. Jimmy Lloyd v. Griffin McCoy v. Gringo Loco in a Number One Contenders Match

Another scramble.

Griffin McCoy wins via pinfall
2.25/5

Billie Starkz v. Joey Janela

What a great match! Joey Janela is a great wrestler and in this match, he proved why. Billie is already a good wrestler but Joey made her look like a great wrestler here. If this is what's in store for Billie Starkz I can wait to see what the future holds for her.

Joey Janela wins via pinfall
3.25/5

Alec Price defends the Battle Bowl ring against Joshua Bishop

This match was short and sweet. Joshua Bishop beat the shit out of Alec Price and Alec Price got a quick win.

Alec Price wins via pinfall
2.25/5

Bunkhouse Stampede

This match was great because it was based around the Royal Rumble 98 where Terry Funk brought out the shopping cart of weapons.

Manders wins
2.75/5

Janai Kai v. Utami Hiyashihita

Im loving Utami in the States so far. This match served its purpose of making her look like a badass.

Utami Hiyashishita wins via pinfall
2.5/5

Starboy Charlie and East-West Express v. Alex Shelley, Lee Moriarty, and Kushida

This was great.  6 great pure wrestlers doing what they do. Also, this is Nick Wayne's last indie match before starting with AEW, go show Tony Khan and the world what we already knew about you kid, we're proud of you and we love you. Happy Birthday.

Alex Shelley, Lee Moriarty and Kushida win vis pinfall
3/5

New Fear City:Hell's Pit 2023

Cassanova Valentine v. Diacide

This match was crazy. Diacide did a stage dive onto Cassanova Valentine while Cass was sitting on a chair holding tubes. Cassanova Valentine took a staple gun to the nuts. Diacide got raked across the back with a gardening tool and that finish where Cassanova dived Diacide through the barbed wire door was insane. Great match

Cassanova Valentine wins via pinfall
3.25/5

Smiley v. Gabriel Skye

I wasn't feeling this match too much. I did learn that Gabriel Skye does death match though.

Gabriel Skye wins via pinfall
2/5

Lyndsay Snow v. Kit Osbourne

This was a fun match. I haven't seen a lot of Lyndsay Snow but she strikes hard and her kicks look awesome. Kit Osbourne did a great job working the crowd and that reminded me a lot of Eddie Gilbert in Memphis. Kit got busted open good by a light tube shot and the finish made me cringe when Lyndsay Snow put Kit in a camel clutch and used tattoo needles on him.

Lyndsay Snow wins via submission
2.75/5

Danny Demanto v. Cassanova Valentine

While this was a good match. If you knoe you know but Danny and Larry in the same room....awkward. The match was very entertaining and Mittens was fun as a backup for Danny. Mittens took a popper bat like a champ too.

Cassanova Valentine wins via pinfall
3/5.

GCW:Clean Up Man 2023

Alec Price v. Brogan Finlay v. Grim Reefer v. Dustin Waller

For a scramble, I liked this. First off ill talk about real life. If you are the one who stole Brogan Finlay's wallet, your mom is a hoe. These guys don't make much so for you to steal from a wrestler is the scum of the earth type shit. Speaking of Brogan I wasn't usually a fan of his matches but he stepped it up here and now I see the upside to him. I may have seen Dustin Waller before but tonight he impressed and needs to be a regular. I wish I was as coordinated as Grim Reefer when im high. And lastly, I love seeing Alec Price on the indies but why has Triple H or Tony Khan not scooped him up yet?

Alec Price wins via pinfall
3/5

Jimmy Lloyd and Wasted Youth v. The S.A.T
It's amazing to see that after all these years S.A.T can still bring it. They were moving around like it was 2002 all over again. Wasted Youth and Jimmy Lloyd were great opponents for them so those are the ingredients for a good match.

Jimmy Lloyd and Wasted Youth win via pinfall
3/5

Effy v. John Wayne Murdoch v. Cole Radrick

We went from Athletic wrestling to a brawl. This was a fun match and the main story in this was Cole Radrick. Lately, I don't know if it's injuries but he's kinda felt stale to me his performance here showed me he hasn't gone anywhere and how dare I doubt Raddy Daddy?

John Wayne Murdoch wins via pinfall
3/5
Charles Mason v. Joey Janela

I wasn't too into this match. Joey was great but other than the storyline he had with Bussy not a Charles Mason fan.

Charles Mason wins via pinfall
2.25/5

Blake Christian defends the GCW Championship against Richard Holliday

I liked this match. The story here was the big guy against the little guy. That means Richard Holliday kicked cancers ass and kicked Blakes's ass around the ring. It was fun to see Blake Christian begging off the whole match as well.

Blake Christian retains via pinfall
3.25/5

Yokai v. Waves and Curls v. Los Macizos

This match was just okay but it served its purpose of getting people back in their seats after intermission. There were some cool spots like Waves and Curls doing a dive over the top rope and using a Badd Blaster. And Miedo put a chair around Janai Kai's neck and Ciclope swung the chair but didn't hit the spot for me.

Los Macizos win via pinfall
2/5

East West Express defends the GCW against Gringo Loco and Jack Cartwheel.

This was a great match. I didn't expect anything less because look who was involved. I'm excited for Nick Wayne to debut on AEW this week and what the future holds for him by the way.

East West Express retains via pinfall
3.5/5

Billie Starkz v. Utami Hiyashishita

I enjoyed this match. These two ladies dished out some vicious strikes and this match was a good way to debut Utami to show what she brings to the table.

Utami Hiyashishita wins via pinfall
3/5

Psycho Clown v. Nick Gage

This was a good match that could have been better. It's not the people in the match's fault. They did do some cool brawling and incorporated a barbed wire door into the match. But in Connecticut, you can't do a death match and this needed to be a death match.

Nick Gage wins via pinfall
2.75/5

ICW NHB:49

Sean Campbell v. MM3

Due to technical difficulties, this match was joined in progress. It looked sick from what I saw but I don't think it's fair to rate this.

MM3 wins via pinfall
NA

Hardway Heeter v. John Wayne Murdoch

On paper, I was just eh on this match but this was good. Hardway Heater gave John Wayne Murdoch paper cuts in the webbing of his fingers. John Wayne Murdoch returned the favor by cutting Hardway with records across the mouth. And man was Hardway Heeter bleeding.

John Wayne Murdoch wins via pinfall
3.25/5

Mickie Knuckles v. Tank

I liked the story of the match and that it was based on the old IWA Mid-South stuff. That match itself was short and a bit slow but Mickie took a staple gun to the vajayjay so that was cool.

Tank wins via pinfall
2.5/5

Jayden Newman v. Danny Demanto

This was an amazing match. Danny some got heat on the old building which reminded me of old Southern-style wrestling. Mittens were even getting heat by default which was so good. Jayden Newman even took a crazy bump through a door and a pane of glass, great shit.
Jayden Newman wins via pinfall
4/5

Bobby Beverly v. Dr. Redacted

What an amazing match. This was to be expected because these two are at the top of their game right now. Dr. Redacted had a nasty cut on his head from a tube shot and I hope he is okay. Many Many light tubes were broken here. Redacted hit a double stomp onto a hung-up Bobby Beverley with tubes on him. Bev swatted redacted out of the air with the light tubes and there has to be a mushroom cloud around the TWE arena after that one, there is so much dust which is appropriate because that was a fucking war.

Bobby Beverly wins via pinfall
4.25/5

The Kirks v. Max The Impaler and Krule

This was meant to progress the Kirks against Krule story but this got confusing. I don't know why Krule and Max The Impaler started attacking each other.  I don't wanna dislike this because the story still isn't done and it may make sense later but tonight this was confusing.

The Kirks win via pinfall
2.25/5

Hoodfoot defends the American Death Match Championship against Tommy Vendetta

There are not many people in the game who can bleed better than Hoodfoot. I love it when Tommy Vendetta uses Legos in a match. The finish was great with the Hoodfoot using a twisting suplex through a pane of glass. Great showing by Tommy Vendetta in this match and this was a very good match.

Hoodfoot retains via pinfall
3/5

GCW:Backyard Wrestling 5

The Chad v. Drake Wheeler v. Ace Wired

Im not sure who any of these men are. This was an ok match. I am very taken aback by the setup of this show. But I got to see a 450 off of a mattress so that's cool.

The Chad wins via pinfall
2.5/5

Dark Angel v. Marc Angel

Dark Angel is Marcus Mathers and I'm not sure who the other guy is. I wasn't that into this match the finish was cool though.  Dark Angel jumped off a treehouse through a door onto Marc Angel.

Dark Angel wins via pinfall
2.25/5

Charlie Cactus v. Pizza Cat Jr.
This is Brogan Finlay and Billie Starkz. This wasn't a great match either but, I did get a One Winged Angel into a pool.

Pizza Cat Jr. Wins via pinfall
2/5

Big Sexy Venom v. Matt Awesome v. Mayday Jack v. Vampyro v. Da Shawn v. Lucky

So this is Big Vin, Matt Tremont, Cole Radrick, Facade, Sean Henderson, and Lucky 13. This wasn't your run-of-the-mill GCW scramble. We had a destroyer from Da Shawn onto Mayday Jack into a pool onto a door, and Vampyro hitting an enziguiri with his foot on fire. The finishing was Mayday Jack jumping off a tractor through a door through Da Shawn. Great stuff that you don't see every day.

Mayday Jack wins via pinfall
3/5
Aerial Crow v. Emanon in a 2 out of 3 doors match.

This is Dylan McKay and Jimmy Lloyd. Aerial Crow did a nice one-footed shooting star off a tall ladder through a door. Then Emanon did the assault driver through a door with firecrackers. And the finish was botched but it still was cool. Emanon was supposed to powerbomb Aerial Crow through a flaming door into a pool but the door barely lit and didn't break. Then Emanon just did a suicide dive onto the door and won.

Emanon wins 2 doors to 1
2.75/5

Jordans Team v. Manders Team

Too many people to name but Tara Zep is here which is great, she gives off a woman from ECW vibes which I already love. And we got a legend like Ruckus in this as well. This was a clusterfuck of a match but 10 persons usually are. But for real bring Tara back and showcase her in a match with fewer people in the match.  There's something there.

Team Manders wins via pinfall
2.25/5

Tarzan v. J.J. Allin

The match started with J.J. Allin shooting Roman Candles at Tarzan. J.J. Worked a popper bat into the match. J.J. Allin had firecrackers blown up on his dick and then took a weedwhacker tobsaue dick. Tarzan destroyed J.J. Allin's lackeys with a firecracker chair. This match was insane and I just listed the crazy shit J.J. Allin did. Wow.

J.J. Allin wins via pinfall
3.25/5
Dildboi v. Joey Janela

This was a Joey Janela squash where Joey just beat the fuck out of Dilfboi. Joey put him through a play house, doors, and a door between Trampolines. Dilfboi made a nice comeback by Beating Janela with a 2x4. But Joey got him back by slamming Dilfboi on a cooler. The finish was amazing with Joey Janela throwing Dilfboi off of the roof onto an inflatable pool with balls in it that was on a door. Really fun match.

Joey Janela wins via pinfall
3/5

GCW v. New South II

Jack Cartwheel v. Brogan Finlay

This was an ok match. I'm not the biggest Brogan Finlay fan in the world but he looked good in his last few performances. Jack Cartwheel continued to deff gravity again.

Tyler Franks v. Cole Radrick

I've only seen Tyler Franks once at the last GCW v. New South show but he improved since the last time I saw him. Franks has the nonboring Technical style going and Cole Radrick was a good opponent for him. This was a nice match.

Cole Radrick wins via pinfall
2.75/5

Hunter Drake v. Alec Price

This was a good match. Hunter Drake impressed me in both scrambles he was in and in this match tonight. Alec Price is always great and showed he can always get an opponent to step up.

Hunter Drake wins via pinfall
2.5/5

Team GCW v. Team New South

This had a very scramble feel to it. It was still a good match but just a lot of action to call.

Team New South wins via pinfall
2.75/5

Dillon McQueen v. Effy

This match would have been better if it was a bit longer. Don't know why this felt so rushed.

Effy wins via pinfall
2.25/5

Akuto Death Society and Brayden Toon v. Los Macizos and John Wayne Murdoch

We had a good brawl around the ring with doors and chairs and were impressed with the New South team and I hope to see them on GCW proper.

Akuto Death Society and Brayden Toon win via pinfall.

3/5

Brandon Williams v. Blake Christian

I enjoyed this match. Brandon Williams instantly won me over by coming out to Backtrack. Williams is also really good in the ring as well and reminds me of Dr. Death a lot move-wise.  Blake did a good job showcasing Williams.

Blake Christian wins via pinfall
2.75/5

Kenzie Paige and Kylie Alexa v. Sawyer Wreck and Rina Yamashita

This was a great match. I don't know what experience Kenzie and Kylie have in death matches but they got schooled here. Both ladies took a cheese grater and guests courtesy of Rina and Sawyer and sold them well. Sawyer and Rina showed why they are the two saddest people in the GCW locker room. Love this.

Sawyer Wreck and Rina Yamashita win via pinfall
3.5/5

ICW NHB: Pit Fighter X17

Tommy Vendetta v. MM3 with special guest referee Darren McCarty

This was a pretty fun way to start the show. It's appropriate because DMac is close with both men. We had Tommy Vendetta's signature Lego spot and the finish was three piledrivers onto Legos.

Tommy Vendetta wins via pinfall.

2.5/5

Joe Black v. Hardway Heeter

I wasn't really into this match. It had some cool strikes but after a suplex onto a door that didn't break and a questionable ref stoppage at the end, which I hope that was a sell and Joe Black is ok. I was taken out of the match.

Hardway Heeter wins via pinfall

2/5

Sean Campbell v. Brett Ison

I remember Sean Campbell from the last time ICW was in Chatanooga and was happy to see him wrestle again. Not familiar with Brett Ison but I got acquainted. This was a great match where Ison was beating Campbell the whole time. Campbell got lucky with a gusset shot and both men were busted open. Campbell jumped off a ladder onto a cool door and Campbell snuck in a win.

Sean Campbell wins via pinfall

3.5/5

Peyton Blair v. Mickie Knuckles

This match was fantastic. I'm so happy for the Blair sisters going from the ring crew to this. I'm proud of them and excited for their future. There was a spot where Mickie Knuckles used a drill on Peyton and ripped out a chunk of Peyton's hair. Both Blair sisters got put through a barbed wire door. I loved this.

Mickie Knuckles wins via submission

3.75/5

Adam Priest v. John Wayne Murdoch

This match was cool but just left me wanting more. We had some cool stuff like a brain buster through a door and a piledriver onto a Branding iron for Terry Funk's birthday but like I said I wanted more.

John Wayne Murdoch wins via pinfall

2.75/5

Dr. Redacted v. Tank

This match got pretty crazy. Both men bled a lot. We had Dr. Redacted get fish hooked for real. And we had a cage brawl that spilled outside and Redacted jumped off of a roof.

Tank wins via pinfall

3/5

Hoodfoot defends the American Death Match Championship against Bobby Beverly

I knew going into this match that it was going to be good. Simply because you have two of the best Death Match wrestlers going right now and this did not disappoint. Both men bled buckets and we got both men playing the hits in that ring. And then finish with Hoodfoot hitting the brainbuster through a pane of glass was perfection.

Hoodfoot retains via pinfall

3.75/5

GCW: Dream On 2025

Lucky 13 came out and insulted the crowd, then Hacksaw Jim Duggan came out and insulted Lucky 13. Ray Jaz came out and attacked Lucky 13. ...
